Character Information

Name: Tamaki Yotsuba
Canon: IDOLiSH7
Canon Point: Post part one.
Age: 17
History:
What we know of Tamaki's early life is as follows; When Tamaki was three years old, his father walked out on their family, leaving Tamaki, his 1 year old sister Aya, and their mother on their own. At some (unspecified) point down the line, their mother falls ill, is hospitalized, and eventually passes away. Tamaki places a lot of blame on his father for this outcome, though it's unclear if it's a matter of leaving the family without the income to prevent/treat her illness, if the illness was brought on by heartache or depression, or if Tamaki is simply angry with his father for leaving in the first place and feels as if his presence there would have somehow solved the situation or made it easier to cope with. Regardless, the children are placed in the care of a facility, and Aya eventually winds up in the care of a foster family, whereas Tamaki grows up in the childcare facility.

From here, desperate to reunite with his sister, whom he hasn't seen or heard from after their separation, he comes to the conclusion that he wants to become an idol. They appear frequently on TV, and he reasons that if his face is on TV a lot, Aya will eventually see him, and the two of them can potentially meet again through it. At 17, Tamaki is scouted by Takanashi Productions alongside 6 other young men, putting him on the road to achieving his goal.

The wiki has a bit of the main story summarized, as well as the TV Tropes page and I'm so sorry that no good summary for this series exists anywhere apparently? Crunchyroll has episode summaries, and the anime lines up with part one of the game story.

Personality:
The most apt way to describe Tamaki is that he is incredibly childish. Much of this can be attributed to the fact that he is still relatively young, being that he is in fact the youngest member of the group, though there's a lot to be said about his maturity levels being affected by his upbringing. It's noted at one point that, growing up in a childcare facility, he was unlikely to have much individual attention given to him. As a result, he tends to be very straightforward with his feelings, and rarely ever goes out of his way to downplay his emotions, as if to make sure they're heard and understood clearly. He smiles when he's happy, he cries when he's upset, and he yells when he gets mad.

This penchant for making his thoughts and feelings known upfront does lead to quite a bit of trouble for him and, by extension, those involved with him. If he finds something to be boring, for instance, he'll be sure to make it known, even if the circumstances he's in call for politeness. Another, more extreme example of this from the series has him reacting violently to having his estranged father sprung up on him as a 'surprise' during the filming of a TV program, and subsequently stubbornly refusing to apologize for the trouble he caused everyone involved due to how badly he felt he was wronged.

On the flipside, this habit of voicing his thoughts honestly gains him a good deal of popularity from his fans. To an audience, it gives him an atmosphere of being incredibly natural, relatable, and down to earth, something that's seen as a refreshing change of pace from seeing pop personalities forcing a cheerful attitude under any and all circumstances. He doesn't put up a front, and that makes him appealing!

Despite his propensity for being blunt and tactless with his statements, Tamaki is noted to be emotionally sensitive. He's able to pinpoint the feelings of those around him particularly well, even if he lacks the insight as to figure out why they may feel the way they do.

While he may be more inclined to doing as little work as possible (having other people to get things for him so he won't have to get up off the couch, sleeping well past his alarms, etc.), when it comes to accomplishing his goals, Tamaki is incredibly hardworking. Given that his main aim through much of the series is to find his sister, he is as a result very tenacious and stubborn in making sure he's doing all he can to meet that aim. Even when it comes to smaller goals, such as a stint in improving his rapport with production crews, given the proper motivation he works hard and tries his best to do what he can.

When it comes to those motivations, he's honestly pretty easy to manipulate. Snacks and praise are generally enough to get him to agree to most tasks, from performing physical labor to adjusting his attitude. On the other hand, knowing what makes him tick leaves him fairly vulnerable to more dishonest schemes from those who may want to take advantage of his honest, trusting nature.

It's worth noting as well that Tamaki is abysmal at explaining things. Pairing this up with an honest nature can lead to some particularly strange situations, such as the time he was led astray from a strict schedule by a girl claiming she knew where to find his sister (she did not), and when attempting to explain why he didn't show up to a filming on time he simply and glumly says he was 'distracted by a girl'. He does, at least, know how to take a scolding and issue a genuine apology when he feels like he's actually messed up (such as in this example).

Overall, Tamaki is an ultimately kind, easygoing boy. He's honest with his emotions and honest with actions, and while he has a temper, he also has a fun-loving side. He likes sweets, and he likes his idol work.

Abilities: For all intents and purposes, Tamaki is a mundane human, with no supernatural capabilities. Where he does stand out are the skills he utilizes as an idol, such as singing and, most notably, his dancing. The latter of which he's noted as having scads of raw talent for.

Strengths: Honest, hard-working, emotionally intelligent, driven, kind.
Weaknesses: Naive, lazy, childish, poor manners, impulsive.

God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: For the most part, Tamaki would be far less cooperative with his memories, and I feel like it wouldn't be quite as interesting to play out that stubbornness with a character who is essentially mundane. Also we need thos shinki
Cause Of Death: Dancing on a runway is dangerous you little shits An unfortunate traffic accident, occurring while he was out getting drinks from a vending machine for the other members of the group.
Vessel: A stylized magnifying glass/magical girl staff.
Name Location: Left shoulder.
Power: Power Channeling: With this shinki power, the god wielding the vessel will be able to use the vessel as a power conduit. If applicable (such as for powers related to elements or auras), the god's power can be outwardly beamed out from the lens of the magnifying glass. Any standard restrictions placed on the god power remain in place, such as time or energy limits.
